After having watched Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, I had it set in my mind that I needed to explore one of the many islands of Greece. I came upon Corfu after hearing the infamous stories of Pink Palace. Pink Palace was where all study abroad students from all over Europe come to induldge in pink toga parties and ouzo shots.
The view from our terrace at pink palace was to die for. Endless miles of beach surround the hotel. There are two means of transportation for students visitng Corfu. Walking, or ATV’ing. To explore the array of restaurants and shops directly below the Pink Palace, we found walking to be sufficient. This way, we stumbled upon a tiny restaurant directly on the beach. The family owned restaurant took us right in, and actually made us a Greek Feast. We didn’t look at a menu, they just brought us out a little bit of everything. Dolmades (grapevine leaves stuffed with rice and veggies), hummus and Feta covered our table. The sun was shining down on us, and we ate in swimsuits and flip flops.
I didn’t quite know what to expect of the toga party. Each of us got a huge, metallic, pink sheet that we could configure into whatever style toga our hearts desired. With sunburned faces, we sipped tropical concoctions until the wee hours of the night. In the morning, the girls and I decided to explore the island on an ATV. The island of Corfu is quite mountanious and it was amazing to see the dozens of tiny villages where 70 year old Greek men were sipping coffee and playing cards at the town café. We finally reached the top of the island and had the most beautiful view, as we were walking to take photos of the panoramic, we passed fresh artichokes growing in the wild. It is truly an untouched island in the middle of Paradise. I can’t wait to go back and re-live one of the best experiences of my life.

1. Try the traditional fare, Gyros, Fresh Feta Cheese, Baklava & Ouzo!
2. Rent an ATV and explore the island. It’s a great way to get around and something that you normally wouldn’t do.
3. Watch the sunset. The sunset in Corfu, sitting on my balcony at Pink Palace was one of the most memorable sunsets of my life.
